Bio & Credentials

Professional & Academic

I am licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia and certified through the Coach Training Alliance.

While working on my Associates Degree I worked as a teen mentor with Family Teamwork of Virginia. The clients were court ordered… not my favorite job.

I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work at George Mason University with a specialization in adolescence and early childhood. This included internships at Arlington Juvenile Justice and Greenbriar Senior Assisted Living. I was the president of the Social Work Club my senior year.

I started out at the Emergency Diagnostic Center, a twelve bed group home in Virginia for emotionally disturbed children. This was a facility designed to receive children removed from a dangerous home environment before placement into therapeutic foster care. The EDC required maintaining certifications in Conflict Resolution, Safe Crisis Management, & physical restraints through the Human Rights Association

After the EDC I led the youth program at Fairfax Circle Church. The first five years I worked closely with adolescents that could be consider “at-risk”. The remaining years included; leading a boy's adolescent group, delegating tasks, working with parents, developing leadership, group & community dynamics, office culture and helping people find & live their purpose.

My conventional experiences include Techstars Startup Weekend, Startup Next Accelerator, Super Achievers Workshop, The Purpose Driven Life Conference & The Strengths Finders Course.

In the course of my life I have dealt with depression and anxiety. Over the years I have had very good and very bad professional help. With a combination of meds, cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR and tDCS I was able to achieve functionality and happiness with a level of competency that now takes very little conscious maintenance. Through getting services for my son, and the help of a Neurologist, I confirmed that I have ADHD and dyslexia. Neurofeedback and Biofield Tuning have been great experiences for me in sharpening my focus and memory.

In my personal life I once played synth/sampler in a band called Real Cool Rain, and continue to work on my own noisescape tracks and mashups with a eurorack modular system that is perpetually growing. I organized the Meetup Group: Comiclub on Infinite Earths, did a short web comic called Sauratopia, and I am working on my own comic project called Meta-Tribes. I am also developing a table-top Godzilla game with my daughter. My favorite conventions are Otakon, Dragoncon, MAGfest & Bronycon (R.I.P.). I enjoy hearing stories of aliens, ghosts, and cryptids, the philosophies of Franciscan mysticism and Japanese folk magick, and research into epigenetics, consciousness, and remote viewing.

I am now consulting with other professionals to convert the TTRPG model of group therapy (tabletop roleplaying games using the practices and principles from Drama Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Play Therapy) for a group coaching context. I “alpha tested” in 2020 with my family and am starting the beta test with true gamers.

I also co-host an anime podcast with an actor/political activist and a science/criminology journalist called Penpen Pals.
I’m working on another podcast with one of the hosts of Pod Virginia, called Gospel of Serpents, examining the influence of Evangelical Nationalists in Politics.
