WOULD WE BE A GOOD FIT?

When I first sought professional help I was reluctant to be open with the same class of person that made me feel alienated my whole life. There were a few that were cool but hinted that maybe it was time to grow up and join the monoculture. They may have understood why some people don’t do well in the industrial age warehouse model of education but it was harder for them to understand the imperatives of an artist for self expression or the conviction of an individual to be offended by a company that values uniformity over unity. My hope is that the services I provide will be welcoming to artists & geeks, punks & pagans, starseeds & furries.

My Specialities

  • I understand avoidance anxiety

Calling someone you don’t know out of the blue can be awkward. You don’t have to sound cool or charming or be super articulate when telling me your story. Clarity will come in its own time and it’s my job to make the conversation comfortable, not yours.

  • I don’t expect anyone’s “best behavior”

We all wear masks in social situations. The masks can be a heavy burden and a distraction. Since the session is your time, please feel free to use the language and/or expletives that are natural to you. Part of the co-creative relationship is letting the client take the lead in setting the tone of the conversation.

  • I am patient

Our social norms can make us self conscious about going into all the detail that is necessary for being understood. We think “this is too long winded” or “this isn’t immediate or significant enough to go into” or “I sound petty”. These worries get in the way of understanding a person’s real situation; please tell your whole story.

  • Flexible Hours

Not everyone has a Monday-Friday 9 to 5. Whether you have to get to the construction site by 5 am or are just shutting down the bar at 3 am, tell me when you can talk and we’ll work it out.

Some Things that Might Set Me Apart

  • All races, creeds, cultures & nationalities accepted.

My mother is Japanese, I grew up in a small mid-west town in the 70s-80s… I understand micro-aggressions and all kinds of ignorance.

  • Sex Positive

Sex shame is a very intrusive problem in many lives. As long as there is adult consent then nothing you disclose will shock me or make me blush.

  • 420 Friendly

I don’t ask for a drug test and I understand the spectrum between recreation, self-medication and/or ritual use of a controlled substance.

  • Respect for all spiritual paths

Whether you are a Southern Baptist or performing a Cross-Roads ritual, feel free to speak with pride about your spiritual beliefs and practices.

  • Geek Literate

Use analogies from any niche of fandom or subculture.

  • LGBTQ+ Affirming

Our gender/sexual identity is meant to enhance our self worth.

  • No judgment…

… concerning anyone’s body image, politics, employment, education or housing status.
